When BFree Foods contacted me to try out some samples of their gluten-free bread products I was extremely excited. I absolutely love trying out new products. It was not a brand I was familiar with, but after some research I saw that their products are currently available in Europe and just beginning to make their way into the United States.
The great thing about BFree gluten-free bread products is that not only is it all gluten-free, it is dairy-free, egg-free, soy-free, and nut-free, and non-gmo. There are also low sugar and high fiber options available. Bread, wraps, bagels and dinner rolls, there is something for everyone!
All the products have a long shelf life and are best stored in the freezer until use.
The first thing I notice (and love!) about BFree bread is that it is cut long ways. No more itty-bitty bread slices or huge holes in your bread. The bread was soft, with no grit. It didn’t need to be toasted to taste good and it did not crumble. My favorite sandwich I made with it was grilled cheese on multi-grain. It was delicious! Schar Artisan bread has always been one of my favorites, but BFree gives them a run for their money. BFree is also vegan, nut-free and soy free.
BFree make two different types of wraps. A Quinoa and Chia Seed Wrap and a Multi-grain Wrap. The Multi-grain Wrap is also low in fat and calories. While I though both were delicious, the Multi-grain Wrap was the best gluten-free wrap I have tried. It was pliable and did not break when you rolled it. These wraps are perfect for lunches. They remain soft and do not get soggy.
BFree offers two different types of dinner rolls: brown and white. While both are delicious, the white rolls were my favorite. At dinner one night I spread a bit of butter and honey on them. The brown rolls are delicious with soups. Both are soft and fluffy. I prefer them warmed up a bit. They would also make great little breakfast sandwiches.
It had been a long time since I had a bagel. There are several on the market, but the ones I had tried were dry and crumbly. I did not have high hopes for the BFree bagels, but I was pleasantly surprised. Both the white and multi-grain had a great texture. There was no crumble and they were nice and soft inside. The outside texture was not as chewy as I remember bagels being, but they were delicious and satisfied my cravings for a good bagel. I ate them with some smoked salmon cream cheese and they were fabulous.
When it comes to gluten-free bread products, BFree is now one of my favorite brands. Unfortunately, online ordering is not yet available, but it will be soon. Meanwhile, you can find BFree products nationwide at BJ’s. If you are in California they are available at Ralphs, Lucky’s, Raley’s and Save Mart. In the northeast they are available at DeMoulas Market Baskey and on the east coast they can be found at Meijer.
