Easy Gluten Free Gingerbread Houses are the perfect addition to your homes Christmas Traditions!
These Gluten Free Gingerbread Houses are brought to you through a collaboration with Schar. All opinions are my own.
Christmas Tradition
Everyone has their traditions, and one of my favorites was making a gingerbread house. Not the kind made with home-baked cookies; the kind made with graham crackers.
We always had a blast loading up graham crackers with tons of icing and candy. Even as an adult, friends and I would get together to make these treats.
When I was putting together a list of our Christmas Bucket List, I knew Gingerbread Houses had to be on it.
Christmas Bucket List
Every year I make a list of some of our must do’s for the Holiday Season. Some of our favorite things are visiting Santa and going to the zoo to see their light display.
Making a list helps me to prioritize our time, December flies by so fast! I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels this way, so feel free to print of my Bucket List, tape it to the fridge, and be sure to write Gingerbread Houses first! Click the image or HERE to download!
These are super easy to make, and of course, they are gluten free Gingerbread Houses!
Easy Gluten Free Gingerbread Houses
We had so much fun making these gluten free gingerbread houses. The little train above was made by my husband; I did the little houses and trees. While his was more complex, I did mine with only one hand. Not to brag, but I think building a gingerbread house with one hand is pretty darn impressive. (In case your wondering, my other is still recovering from wrist surgery!)
What made these so easy? Schar Gluten Free Honeygrams and my killer royal icing.
The Schar Gluten Free Honeygrams are great for building (plus they taste great!). The square size is perfect. Now we did need to trim some to make roofs, and I used cookie cutters for trees, but there is a trick to that. Microwave the honeygrams for 30 seconds in a damp paper towel, when you remove it, it will be slightly soft. Perfect for cutting out shapes.
Decorating Fun
The best part about making Gingerbread Houses is decorating! There are so many different options. Just be sure to read all your candy for gluten. It can be sneaky!
There are tons of gluten free candies out there, so don’t worry, I’m sure you’ll find plenty of options!
Royal icing is what I use to hold it together. I use pasteurized egg whites in my recipe. I like to buy the little container of just the whites, so I don’t end up with tons of leftover yokes. Be sure to get pasteurized, since the eggs are not going to be cooked.
These easy, gluten free gingerbread houses are a blast to make. I’m sure they will hit. What is one of your bucket list holiday traditions?

December 6, 2017 at 9:59 pmThe house and train came out great! I love making gingerbread houses, but I haven’t tried with my kids because I thought it would be too complicated. The Schar honeygrams are a game changer though – so we’ll be making some!

December 5, 2017 at 10:58 amI make my own gluten free graham crackers so I can make a BIG Ol’ Gingerbread House, but this size would be handy for those class projects where the class mom always brings in regular gluten grahams (boo!). Cute ideas here, Amanda!
