Salted Toffee Sticks are the perfect addition to Tequila Spiked Hot Chocolate. Try with a side of Goodie Girl Toffee Chaos Cookies for the perfect treat!
This post is part of a collaboration between My Gluten Free Miami and Goodie Girl Cookies. All opinions are my own.
Not Just for Kiddos
If you think about your most nostalgic memories of hot chocolate and cookies, they are most likely from when you were a child. When I was a kid, I was always excited when it would get cool out because that meant hot chocolate and cookies.
There is nothing like coming in from the cold to a warm cup of hot chocolate, and there is nothing like a bit of tequila to spice up that hot chocolate!
Toffee Chaos Goodie Girl Cookies
I love cookies with my hot chocolate. There is something about the way they crumble. If you haven’t tried Goodie Girl Toffee Chaos Cookies, you have been missing out. I know I have told you about all their amazing flavors, but these are my favorite. So much so that I didn’t even want to deconstruct them for a recipe. Full of little toffee bits and chocolate chips, each bite just melts in your mouth. I just wanted to eat a plate of them with some hot chocolate.
Lucky for me, it just so happens tonight it is only 55 degrees in Miami, so it is the perfect evening for Goodie Girl Toffee Chaos cookies and spiked hot chocolate.
Salted Toffee Sticks with Spiked Hot Chocolate
Now I will admit, I’m not much of a drinker, but I thought a spiked hot chocolate and cookies would make a perfect date night. I decided to add a bit of tequila, and then started thinking about how when people drink tequila salt is usually involved and how could I use salt to enhance the flavor of the hot chocolate.
I’ve never made toffee before this, the idea of using a candy thermometer always made me a little bit apprehensive, but it was totally worth it to make these sticks. The salted toffee sticks slowly melt into the hot chocolate, making it the perfect flavor to complement the Goodie Girl Toffee Chaos cookies.
Recipe Notes
Toffee is much simpler to make than I thought.
- You will need a candy thermometer, but these only cost about 8.00. I ordered a simple one from Amazon, and it worked great.
- If you have a Silpat, it is awesome for pouring the toffee on. If not you can use wax paper.
- Spread the toffee quickly. It sets up fast.
- Before it gets hard, you will need to use a knife to press in the marks to be able to break it later.
- Add two layers of salt. Once right after spreading and once after it has a few moment to set up.
Be sure to check out the Goodie Girl Website and find out where you can get your hands on Toffee Chaos Cookies. One bite and you will never look back!
