Creamy, salty, smokey gluten free fish dip is a must make appetizer. Served with buttery entertainment crackers, it is the perfect taste of South Florida!

South Florida
In South Florida we are proud of many things- the sun, the sand, the year round warm weather, but really, I think the number one thing I’m proud of is our food. If you love food, South Florida is an amazing place. Especially if you love seafood, and I can’t get enough of it!
Fish dip has always been a family favorite. Growing up, my neighbor made the most amazing fish dip. I always loved eating over there because it was almost a guarantee there would be some.
The thing about fish dip, is while it’s tasty on its own, you really need a buttery cracker to go with it.
Schar Entertainment Crackers
If you have been missing a “Ritz” style gluten free cracker, look no further. My daughter actually prefers these gluten free Schar Entertainment Crackers regular crackers. They are the perfect texture, with a slight crumble that you would expect from a butter cracker.
They are irresistible and perfect for serving dips, like this South Florida Gluten Free Fish Dip on. I occasionally see them in stores, but if you can’t find them in stores, there is always online ordering. The Schar Entertainment Crackers are also perfect for making lunchable style ham and cheese crackers. So good!
Gluten Free Fish Dip
Fish dip is one of those things that tastes amazing, but is also ridiculously easy to make. Now, there are many variations out there. Even in South Florida, every restaurant has their own version (and some put bread crumbs in the dip, so if you are at a restaurant be sure to ask!).
I like to use cream cheese in mine. Some people like to use some mayo or sour cream, but my neighbor always used cream cheese and I think she was on the right path.
You can use any smoked fish you like. Mackeral is pretty common to find smoked here, but trout also is delicious, just make sure it’s not already marinated. I’ve seen some with different marinades on them (garlic, etc.) and that’s not what you want. You can even smoke your own fish, if you are feeling up to the task.
Just remember- smoked fish is salty. While I like to use the whole package of smoked fish (most packages are 6-8 ounces), you might want to start out with about 3/4 of it and taste it before adding the rest.
This delicious gluten free smoked fish dip is rounded out with green onions and jalapenos. That’s it. Simple and soooo good.
Gluten Free fish dip is a recipe I keep in my go-to arsenal. I’m sure you will love it too and don’t forget to grab some Schar Entertainment Crackers to go with it!

May 17, 2018 at 10:16 amHey there,
I too am from SF, I LOVE LOVE Smoked Fish Dip when I can find it without bread or cracker crumbs. I have never used the fish you mentioned, where do you purchase that locally? I have only used fresh fish and added liquid smoke while making. Also, thanks for the tip on the crackers, I have tried so many over the years and sadly been disappointed, good to have a great description of what I enjoy!! 🙂 Love your blog/Insta.

May 17, 2018 at 9:32 pmHi! I bought the smoked fish at Milams, but I saw some at Publix too. I haven’t tried it with fresh fish, but I may try that soon!
