Monkey Bread
Who doesn’t like monkey bread? Bread dipped in cinnamon sugar and cooked in caramel sauce? You just can’t go wrong. The first time I made monkey bread was for a friends baby shower brunch. It was really easy because I used already made biscuit dough.
Since going gluten free, I hadn’t attempted gluten free monkey bread. It felt like making the dough would be complicated so I just kinda left the idea to the side.
That is, until I realized that I could use Enjoy Life’s Pizza Dough mix to make a vegan, gluten free monkey bread.
Enjoy Life Pizza Crust
Enjoy Life’s pizza crust is so versatile. I’ve used it for gluten free cinnamon rolls and gluten free soft pretzels. I love mixes that are so versatile!
For this recipe, I do adjust how the dough is prepared. In order to keep the dough light and fluffy, I added a bit of extra water and oil. You don’t have to let it rise beforehand, but they do puff as you bake them, which is awesome!
Vegan Gluten Free Monkey Bread
I prepare this as many traditional monkey bread, with a few key changes. One, I use gluten free pizza crust. The pizza crust is a bit heavier, so you want to be careful not to weigh it down too much.
Because of this, I don’t dip the dough balls in butter before rolling them in sugar and cinnamon. I also don’t use as much butter and brown sugar as many recipes call for, but it didn’t need it.
Enjoy Life Pizza Crust Mix is top 8 allergen free and gluten free. To keep it vegan, allergen friendly and gluten free I used Earth Balance Soy Free butter sticks. I’ve found they work just like regular butter. If you do not need dairy free or vegan, feel free to use regular butter.
This vegan, gluten free monkey bread is perfect for brunch. Whether it be Christmas morning or a baby shower, this is a recipe to keep in your arsenal!
