White Star Cafe Review: 100% Gluten Free Restaurant

White Star Cafe is Miami’s only completely gluten free restaurant, boasting South Florida favorites like croquettas!

White Star Cafe Review

This is not a sponsored post. All meals were paid for and all opinions are my own.

White Star Cafe

Not to long ago, a new restaurant popped up in the heart of Miami. Located on Sunset Drive, near 87th Ave, White Star Cafe became the first sit down 100% gluten free restaurant in Miami. While there are several other boasting solid gluten free options, this is the only one that is 100% gluten free, meaning no chance of cross contamination.

White Star Cafe prides themselves in whole food, non-gmo, high-quality ingredients. In addition to being completely gluten free, the ingredients are also sourced to be free of soy, corn, peanuts, tree-nuts*, fish, and shellfish. Most dishes can also be made dairy and egg free.

The Food

I have only actually been to White Star twice, but in those two trips, I have tried quite a few dishes. White Star Cafe offers a wide variety of dishes from quick serve sandwiches and croquettas (yes, croquettas!) to fancier dishes like Risottos. There is also a wide variety of brunch dishes with quiche and french toast.

Everything I have tried has been delicious, though at times needing a bit more salt, but that could just be me.

On our first trip was on their opening day. I will admit I went mainly for the croquettas. They did not disappoint. I will go to White Star Cafe just for the croquettas.
My husband had the wagyu beef burger and I have to say my favorite part was the bun. While the burger was good, the bread was what really stood out. I had pizza and it was good, but it wasn’t my favorite, a little too bready for my taste. My daughter had the chicken nuggets with fries and she was very happy with them.

Our second visit was with the Gluten Free South Florida Support Group.

This was a lot of fun because I was able to try a lot more dishes. Everyone who attended had a great time and really enjoyed the food. I wish I could say I’ve been back since them, but it’s generally a little bit out of this work at home/stay at home mom’s budget.

My Final Opinion

The food is great. White Star Cafe takes great pride in their service and the quality of their ingredients. If you have multiple food allergies or celiac, and want to eat without worrying, this is the place for you.

Because I am the only one in our family that needs to eat gluten free, it is really more a place that I would stop by for a snack or treat. I am always happy with the food, but it just isn’t’ in our price range for eating out (though honestly, not much is, we keep a pretty tight food budget).

If you are visiting Miami, you need to try White Star Cafe and if you or your loved one has Celiac or other allergies, it is the perfect place for a special meal.

They are so amazing with all allergies, but it’s nice to not have to worry about anything being gluten free.

LOVE that they have such a safe kitchen for allergy folks and celiacs! I feel like we will be seeing more places like them popping up.
