Sauce Perfection
I love a good sauce. You could say I’m a little addicted. Sometimes I eat things just for the sauce. It’s like whatever I’m eating is really just a vehicle to get the sauce into my mouth.
I’m sure I’m not the only one! Awhile back we received a Hello Fresh meal that had what they called a homemade tartar sauce (we get Hello Fresh occasionally if they have gluten free options that week- you can read about it HERE).
Anyways, it wasn’t so much of a tartar sauce, as a sauce with mayo, fresh dill, and bit of cucumber. It was good, but it got me thinking how I could make it better. We were having tempura fried fish for dinner and I wanted a sauce to go with it. Thus Lemon Dill Sauce was born. This stuff is seriously good on anything. Even to dip french fries in. Or eat with a spoon. Whatever you like! Plus, there is no cooking required for this Lemon Dill Sauce!
Lemon Dill Sauce
I originally created this sauce to go with my Tempura Fish and then I used it on a Lemon Dill Panko Crusted Salmon and it was the bomb. I have mostly used it for fish at this point, but don’t be surprised if you see it popping up on other things soon (the Tempura Fish and Panko Crusted Salmon will be up soon!)
It doesn’t get much better than this sauce. Plus it literally takes less than 5 minutes and 5 ingredients!
Pro Tips
Zest
Lemon zest gives the sauce a brightness that the juice by itself doesn’t. I use this Microplane. I got it on Amazon and have been using it for years, it’s only about 10.00 and I use it ALL the time. With prime, you can have it by the weekend! If you don’t have Amazon Prime you can Try Amazon Prime 30-Day Free Trial.
Lemon Juice
Fresh lemon juice will always be better than the bottled, and since you need the zest go ahead and splurge on that lemon (ours have been a bit pricey lately, but maybe yours are cheaper- but it’s still worth it!)
Garlic
There is about 1 1/2 teaspoons of jarred minced garlic (I tend to be lazy in this area), but if you are using fresh, you may need a little less.
Double the recipe, double the deliciousness
Consider doubling the recipe! It’s perfect for myself and my husband, but if you have people at your house who like to drench their food in sauce (like I do!) go ahead and double it!
You are going to love this recipe! It’s one of those amazingly delicious things that will be a staple. Be sure to come back and check out my Tempura Fish and Panko Crusted Salmon this week!
