Budget-friendly steak tacos are a naturally gluten free addition to your new year meal rotation. Delicious, healthy, and easy on your wallet.
Tacos Every Day
Ever Tuesday someone posts about Taco Tuesday. It’s a catchy name- Taco Tuesday. But the thing is, I kinda want tacos ALL THE TIME. Breakfast, dinner, and lunch. I love tacos so much I already have three recipes up for them! There are Jamaican Jerk Tacos, Quinoa Tacos, and Crunchy Chicken Tacos.
Because you can never have too many tacos- today I bring you budget friendly steak tacos! Can you say yum?
Budget Friendly Steak Tacos
This year we are cutting way back on our food budget (soooo hard for me!) because we really want to do some traveling. but I still want to eat good food.
That means finding ways to infuse lots of flavors, with few ingredients. For these steak tacos, I bought already sliced steak that was for fajitas- it was 2.99 a pound (if you can’t find already sliced steak, then sub in some flank steak- you can usually find it on sale).
Stores will often cut the leftover meat up for stews or fajitas and sell it at a much lower cost. A quick marinade of cilantro, lime, cumin, and chili powder and you have perfect tacos.
By simplifying the toppings I also saved money- this fresh tomato salsa doesn’t cost a fortune and is packed with flavor. The avocado adds omega threes and has a perfect, creamy texture.
Corn tortillas are also super cheap and great to have around for easy meals.
Taco Time
These budget friendly steak tacos cost about $10.00 for four servings and you will have tortillas left for another meal. If you prefer flour tortillas to corn GF Jules has a great gluten free flour tortilla recipe! Whenever I make them they disappear in a flash.
If you are looking for a great dip to try (or have vegan friends over and want a protein for them) try this Vegan Cheesy Black Bean Dip from Salted Plains!
So tell me- any great ideas for easy and cost-efficient meals? Let me know your ideas in the comment (and don’t forget to tell me your favorite kind of taco!

January 5, 2018 at 4:03 amI always look at what meat is on sale and buy that – we only eat organic meat, which definitely takes a chunk out of our wallets! Such a good idea to use a big flavoured marinade on what may be a less preferred cut of meat.
